This week is going to be near the top for "bad computer" weeks in my life. Aside from the recent data networking problems at the office, I've had to contend with my own computer problems.
I recently received a new Lenovo (almost said "IBM") ThinkPad T61 for work. I diligently spent time downloading updates, installing any other applications that I need, getting my personal files transferred over, and getting applications configured. Then, I ran into some weird problem with Explorer.exe and had to start from scratch. I was just about done with this first rebuild when, this morning, something got messed up again.
If I cannot get access to the Windows System Restore utility, I will be forced to do this all over AGAIN. Every time I have to do this, I'm guaranteed to waste at least 2 work days on it. I can't speed it up by doing some of this from home because our crappy DSL service at home is too slow to download hundreds of MBs of data over the course of a night.
